WE'VE MOVED!!

....................... to HERE

I've "moved" my blog to a new URL ... "andlife2go.blogspot.com" .... so I don't have to worry about what age I am, and how it doesn't match the title. I also used a new template and customized it quite a bit.

... I'm actually kind of sad, I have been using this blog for over a year now and have met some really cool people. Hopefully you will continue to read and visit at the new URL.

For those very few people who link to me (I think I count 3), please update your site link to my new URL at your earlier convenience.

Geek entry #2

.. OK, well here I am again, scratching my head. Most of the few people who read this blog have done some really cool things to theirs. Many say they use Photoshop CS to make their graphics.

So, I say, OK, let's check this baby out. I goto Amazon.com, search for it, and yep, there it is. I look at the price. Rub my eyes. Look at the price again. Holy shit! Do all you folks really pay $599 for a piece of software?!?!

I'm sorry, I just can't do it. You can get a decent computer these days for that price. I can never justify paying $599 for some software, I don't care what it does. That's just insane.

I then noticed Corel Paint Shop Pro, for about $90. Most of the reviewers said it's about as good as Photoshop CS, but obviously lacks some features. But for $500 less, I don't think I'll miss those features.

So my question to you all is, have any of you used both Corel Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop CS? Is there really such a difference that it's worth $500 extra? And did you all really PAY $500+ for CS, or did you get a "copy" from a friend, did work pay for, etc?? Because unless the software also does my laundry and pays the bills, I'm going with Corel.

Parking Issues?

... do you hate it when you're trying to find a spot in a crowded parking lot and you see, for example, a Corvette or a Porche parked diagonally taking up 2 or 3 spaces because they think their car is the shit? Or, when a large SUV squeezes in a compact only spot? Or, even still, when someone parks over the yellow line, making it impossible for you to get in or out of you car?

Let them know how you feel with a little sticker.

I may just order some.

What's in my CD Player?

... OK, I decided to let you all know what is currently in my 6-CD player in my car. I'm not cheating, either. So even if I have a really cheesy or embarrassing CD in there right now, I shall admit it (although luckily, I don't).

CD 1: Coldplay - X&Y : It took a while for me to start liking this one. I still don't like all the songs, but most of them have grown on me. Favorite tracks are 4, 7, 10 and 11.
CD 2: Keane - Hope and Fears : I bought this album because of the singles "Somewhere Only We Know" and "This Is the Last Time". The rest of the album is OK; their slows songs, sans drums, are not very good, IMHO.
CD 3: REM - Life's Rich Pageant : One of my favorite REM albums, from way back in 1986. This is one of those discs I can listen from beginning to end without having to skip any songs. It also contains Michael Stipe's favorite REM song, "Fall On Me", which also is one of mine.
CD 4: Chemical Brothers - Galvanize : I really got into electronica back in the mid-90's, and bought of slew of discs back then of that type of genre. While most of the other groups have faded, I still thoroughly enjoy this group along with Crystal Method. Great CD, another one I can listen from beginning to end. They saved the best tracks for last - 10 & 11 are great.
CD 5: Snow Patrol - Final Straw : One of my favorite albums right now. Simply amazing. I've probably listened to it once a day since I bought it 6 months ago and it still hasn't gotten old. It's hard to describe their sound, but if you Coldplay and some acoustic rock, you'd probably like this album.
CD 6: Morrissey - Greatest Hits: A must have in a CD collection. "Hairdresser on Fire", c'mon does it get any better than that?

I must be in a "Europe" faze right now, because all of the above groups hail from across the Atlantic except REM.

Think Different

Here's to the crazy ones.

The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers.
The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them.
But the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
Because they push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,
Are the ones who do.

30 Days

...has anyone had the chance to catch 30 Days, a show on cable channel FX? It's a great show. I giggled in delight when I first saw an advertisment for the series. As an avid lover of the documentary Super Size Me, I knew the show would be fantastic. So far, the 2 episodes I have seen have been fantabulous.
In the first episode, the creator, Morgan Spurlock, and his wife try to live on minimum wage for 30 days. It's very sobering, sometimes humorous. The episode I just saw last night, they take a very Christian farm-boy from Michigan and makes him live with a gay man who just happens to live in the gayest neighborhood in San Francisco. It's an eye-opening experience for this farm-boy and I'm glad it at least opened his mind a bit. Hopefully it opened up some of the viewers minds, also.

Anyways, check the show out if you can. 9PM CST on Wednesdays on FX. And no, I wasn't paid to promote it. My fan-base isn't big enough yet to get paid for promoting.

Geek entry

... ok, well it's not really geeky.. but this doesn't deal with much else than blog questions... so..

First off, I'm wondering why, for the (VERY) few people who have linked to my site, when my site is updated, how come it doesn't indicate so on your site? I noticed many of you out there have a feature on your "Links" list that indicates when someone's blog has been updated.

I'm also in the process of trying to customize this blog of mine. I can't STAND using "Hello" for pictures.. and I'm trying to understand this CSS stuff, Javascript, etc... you think being a CS major, with years of programming experience in UNIX/C/Java environment, that it would be easy! But I've having a bugger of a time..

Anyways...if you visit this blog of mine in the next few weeks, and notice the layout has changed but nothing works, it was because of me!
